Dried Mushrooms must be the missing ingredient - all fresh mushrooms are available dried.
Everyone loves mushrooms and as their appetite grows, so does the demand for new ways of preparation. Drying mushrooms is the traditional method for preserving mushrooms. By drying mushrooms, the flavor and texture is enhanced and the mushroom simply does not taste any better.
They can be used straight in soups and stews, but for other dishes, it is best to reconstitute them in lukewarm water for approximately 20 minutes. Do not use boiling water as this will impair the final flavor. The water in which they have been reconstituted may be used as stock or for making gravy. Before you do so, it is recommended that you pour it through a sieve to strain out any extraneous material or grit that may have been contained in the dried mushrooms.
